May 19 & 20: Teton Powwow
Join Native performers from across the west as they share the enchanting age-old traditional music and dance, as well as introduce new exciting vibrant styles and movements. Native song and dance evolution presented in this colorful cultural exhibition showcase is masterfully curated by the master of ceremonies, Chico Her Many Horses.
The Teton Powwow is a collaboration between Central Wyoming College and Native American Jump Start. The mission of the powwow is to create awareness of one of the aspects of Native American culture, powwows, and to highlight the importance that education plays to Indigenous people. Education plays a key role for Indigenous people by promoting learning experiences that are rooted in the culture, history, environment and economics, as it plays a role in determining people’s futures.
