February 25: Winter Trails Day
Friends of Pathways invites you to celebrate your public lands during Winter Trails Day on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, with free fat bike, Nordic ski, and backcountry ski demos at three popular trailheads in Teton County – Teton Pass, Emily’s Pond, and Cache Creek.
Winter Trails Day kicks off Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023 at 9 a.m. at the top of Teton Pass with free backcountry demos offered by Hoback Sports until noon. To help get you up and down the pass, and to help reduce traffic congestion, Teton Backcounty Alliance will provide a free shuttle until 3 p.m., thanks to vans donated by Rendezvous River Sports. The vans will pick up and drop people off at Old Pass Road, top of Teton Pass, and Coal Creek from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. And to help keep everyone safe, Teton County Search and Rescue will be at the top of the pass to answer any questions.
Friends of Pathways will also be at Emily’s Pond from noon until 3 p.m. with PAWS, JH Nordic, and JD High Country Outfitters. JD High Country outfitters will have their Nordic demo fleet available and allow people to cross country ski for free up and down the Snake River levee.
In partnership with the Bridger Teton National Forest, Friends of Pathways grooms over 12 miles of winter singletrack in Cache Creek; come ride it Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. with free fat bike demos from Hoff’s Bikesmith, Fitzgerald’s Bicycles, Wheel Wranglers, and Teton Mountain bike Tours. These four bicycle shops will each have their demo fleet on hand, so it’s a great opportunity to try a new bike you’re interested in, or to try fat biking for the first time.
At each location Friends of Pathways will have free hot cocoa, cookies, and plenty of information on our winter trails. Bring your friends, family, and dogs and come ski and bike with us and your community during Winter Trails Day.
