Grand Teton National Park offers a variety of accessible facilities and experiences for visitors with mobility challenges. For more information, check out their detailed accessibility webpage, physical mobility webpage, and printable brochure.

Yellowstone National Park offers a range of accessible activities and accommodations for people with disabilities. Options include sign language interpreters, braille maps, and assistive listening devices. The majority of the park’s sites are accessible to wheelchair users via short paths. The accessibility page lists accessible facilities, campgrounds, lodging, activities, programs, sights, parking, and restrooms in each developed location of the park.

Stand-up personal vehicles, such as Segways, are allowed in some areas for people who need to use wheelchairs for mobility.

Manual wheelchairs are available for loan at Old Faithful, Canyon, Mammoth (Albright), Grant, Fishing Bridge and Norris visitor centers, and all lodging facilities, except Roosevelt Lodge. Wheelchairs can be rented on a first-come, first-served basis at medical clinics.A beach wheelchair is available for use along the shore of Yellowstone Lake. No reservations are required.

Accessible Campsites & Trails- The following locations are not fully accessible but are more feasible for individuals with mobility impairments:

• • • • Goose Lake Campsite (OD5): Between Madison and Old Faithful, 1.5 miles from the Fountain Freight Road trailhead. This site is held for people with disabilities or cyclists until 4 pm daily.
      • Ice Lake Campsite (4D3): Near Norris and Canyon, this campsite includes an accessible tent pad and pit toilet. The trail is under 0.5 miles long but may require assistance for wheelchair users.
      • Wheelchair-Accessible Trails: Lone Star Geyser Trail (Old Faithful area) & Natural Bridge Trail (Bridge Bay area).

• Campgrounds: The BTNF’s Atherton Creek Campground offers an accessible boat ramp to Slide Lake as well as accessible picnic tables, restrooms, and campsites. The Blackrock District, Togwotee Overlook, and Toppings area have accessible toilets.
• Other Campgrounds: Other campgrounds and dispersed camping on the BTNF and CTNF may have accessible sites available. Contact the BTNF Supervisor’s Office at 307-739-5500  or the CTNF Teton Basin District Ranger at (208) 354-2312 for more info.
• Overlooks: There are a number of accessible sites including the Wedding Tree, the Gros Ventre Slide overlook, and Granite Falls parking area.
• Visitor Center: The BTNF visitor center has wheelchair-accessible parking, exhibits, and restrooms.

All park visitor centers include accessible facilities, restrooms, and parking.

• Craig Thomas Discovery & Visitor Center (Moose, WY): Features automatic doors, accessible exhibits, restrooms, and paved walkways.
• Colter Bay Visitor Center: Fully accessible with paved walkways, accessible restrooms, and wheelchair-friendly gift shops.
• Jenny Lake Visitor Center: Newly renovated for improved accessibility, including accessible pathways to scenic viewpoints.

Many of the park’s scenic drives and overlooks are wheelchair-friendly, including:

• Snake River Overlook: A paved, level viewing area of the iconic Ansel Adams landscape.
• Oxbow Bend Turnout: Offers accessible parking and an even viewing platform of the river, ideal for wildlife watching.
• Jackson Lake Dam: Features an accessible pullout and smooth paths for viewing the lake and surrounding mountains.

All adaptive equipment (including e-bikes and trikes) are allowed on national park or national forest trails (provided they fit/are capable). Several trails in Grand Teton National Park may be able to be managed by wheelchairs. While these trails are dirt or gravel and may have some roots or rocks as obstacles, they are all compact with little elevation gain.

• Schwabacher Landing: A relatively flat, compacted dirt trail offering stunning Teton views.
• Lakeshore Trail (Colter Bay): A packed gravel pathway with minimal elevation gain, perfect for an easy, scenic stroll.
• Taggart Lake Trailhead: The first portion of the trail is smooth and manageable for wheelchairs with assistance. The park is currently reconstructing the Taggart Lake trail to create an inclusive experience for all visitors through the Reimagining Taggart Lake initiative.
• The Grand Teton Pathway: GTNP has 16 miles of paved multi-use pathways that connect to the Town of Jackson and extensive Teton County pathway system. Persons with physical disabilities may use other forms of electric and battery operated transportation. Pets are not permitted, but guide dogs used for the sole purpose of aiding a person with physical disability may travel on the pathway.

• Wheelchairs are available for loan at the Craig Thomas (Moose), Jenny Lake, and Colter Bay visitor centers.
• Most campgrounds have ADA-compliant sites with paved paths and accessible picnic areas.
• The Jenny Lake Boating company provides wheelchair accessible boat access for trips across and around Jenny Lake.

• Winter Sleigh Rides: Wheelchair-accessible sleighs are available for guests during the winter months, allowing close-up views of hundreds of elk and other winter wildlife.
• Wildlife Viewing: The wildlife viewing pavilion has accessible parking, signage, and boardwalk access to observe the refuge and nearby Flat Creek.
• Visitor Center: Fully accessible with wheelchair-accessible parking, exhibits, and restrooms.

• Adaptive Skiing, Snowboarding, Hiking, and Mountain Biking: JHMR’s robust adaptive sports program includes specialized sit-skis, trained instructors, and accessible gondolas.

• Aerial Tram & Gondola: Both are wheelchair-friendly to take visitors of all mobility ranges to the top of the world-famous Teton Mountain Range.

• Parking: Accessible parking locations in all major lots are clearly outlined on resort parking maps.

Roll Mobility

With Teton Adaptive’s guidance, Jackson Hole is an early promoter of the Roll Mobility smartphone app. Through user-entered data (similar to “Yelp”), viewers can check out accessibility data for a large variety of local accommodations, lodging, parking, and attractions.

Chamber of Commerce

The Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce Explorer Magazine lists its members’ ADA compliant hotels, motels, and guest ranches in the Lodging Guide section of their annual visitor magazine.

Grand Teton National Park

GTNP lists accessible hotels and campgrounds on its physical mobility page.

Accessible campgrounds are available in Grand Teton National Park, Bridger-Teton National Forest, and in private campgrounds.

Gros Ventre Campground (GTNP): Features ADA-compliant campsites with level parking, accessible picnic tables, and paved pathways.

Colter Bay Campground (GTNP):  Offers wheelchair-accessible restrooms, paved camping sites, and nearby accessible trails.

Atherton Creek Campground (BTNF): The Atherton Creek Campground offers an accessible boat ramp to Slide Lake as well as accessible picnic tables, restrooms, and campsites.

Accessible activity options vary by location. Triangle X, Flat Creek Ranch, and the Spotted Horse Ranch all offer wheelchair accessible cabins.

In addition to wheelchair service and accessible boarding ramps, Jackson Hole Airport has a range of accommodations for travelers with disabilities:

• JAC participates in the Sunflower Lanyard program to assist individuals with hidden disabilities.
• Service animal relief areas are located outside and inside security.
• Sensory kits are available for neurodivergent travelers.
• A wellness room is provided inside security with a quiet space to relax.
• The TSA Cares program offers assistance to travelers with special needs.

START Bus: Provides wheelchair-accessible public transportation between downtown Jackson, Teton Village, and surrounding areas. Buses are equipped with ramps and designated wheelchair spaces. START also utilizes an ADA paratransit bus to provide specialized service to individuals with disabilities. Find out more here.

Jackson Hole’s pathway system provides over 70 miles of wheelchair-accessible paved trails–for leisure or transportation.

Alltrans Shuttle Service – Offers ADA-compliant shuttle and private transportation services.

Uber & Lyft – Limited availability of wheelchair-accessible vehicles, but some drivers accommodate foldable wheelchairs.

The Town of Jackson has disabled parking spots located throughout town on streets, in parking lots, and at the parking garage. Parking regulations can be found here and on the map below:

Jackson Hole’s dining and shopping scene is largely accessible, with many businesses offering step-free entrances and accessible restrooms. The Roll Mobility smartphone app rates the accessibility of many local restaurants including details such as ease of entrance, elevator availability, and accessible bar seating. Many of the restaurants in the downtown area have accessible seating and nearby parking.

Downtown Jackson – Many stores have ramps, but some historic wooden boardwalks may pose challenges. Look for shops with marked accessibility signs.

Town Square – Offers wide sidewalks and accessible entry points, though some historic buildings may require assistance for entry and some steps exist on sidewalks.

Teton Village – A paved, heated pathway runs from the top of the Village to the bottom, offering easy access to shops and restaurants in both winter and summer. Wheelchair users can bypass any stairs by maneuvering on the sidewalk near the parking lot.

Snow King Mountain – The Snow King Gondola is wheelchair accessible, enabling direct access to the Snow King Observatory, Aurora restaurant, and a gift store nearly 1,500 feet above the valley floor.

Wildlife Expeditions of Teton Science Schools – Offers accessible wildlife tours with wheelchair-friendly vans.

EcoTour Adventures – Provides private tours with mobility accommodations.

National Wildlife Art Museum:  offers loaner wheelchairs and fully accessible galleries. Additionally, the museum has special tactile displays to enable visitors with vision impairment to interact with art through touch and sound.  The museum has also partnered with EnCHroma to provide specialized glasses to enable color-blind individuals to experience a fuller spectrum of colors in the artwork.

Jackson Hole History Museum:  includes accessible exhibits, elevators, and balcony event space.

Astoria Hot Springs: features two accessible pools as well as accessible showers and changing rooms.

Teton Adaptive rents out accessible bicycles for trail and pathway use.

JH Medical Supply – Provides various mobility aids for short-term rental.

The Center for the Arts lists upcoming events that include ASL interpretation for hearing-impaired individuals. Additional accessible event listings include captioning, audio-described, and relaxed performance. All events are wheelchair accessible.
