Events, Shopping, and Dining This Holiday Season

    By Visit Jackson Hole
Town of Jackson Hole Wyoming lights in winter

Twinkling lights, cups of hot cocoa, bundled ice skaters, festive shop windows, bells and carols.

Celebrating the holiday season in the festive alpine town of Jackson Hole is like living a scene from a Christmas movie. One where Santa drops from a tram and the best views of the lights come from 7,000 feet.

    Holiday Events

November 23, 2023: Thanksgiving Day. To celebrate the holiday, the new Jackson Hole Turkey Trot preemptively burns calories before indulging in traditional turkey dinners served at The Wort Hotel or ordered in from Bistro Catering.

November 24, 2023: The holiday season, and the ski season, kick off simultaneously on the day after Thanksgiving each year. November 24 marks opening day at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and the famous Town Square Lighting in downtown Jackson.

November 25 – December 23, 2023: Small Business Saturdays. Shop local in Jackson Hole and have your gifts wrapped for free, every Saturday from November 25 – December 23 at Town Square.

November 30: The historic Wort Hotel hosts a holiday lighting complete with Santa, cookies, and dancing in the street!

December 2, 2023: Art Association’s Holiday Bazaar. Shop thousands of locally-made crafts and gifts at the Center for the Arts from 9am to 4pm.

December 16 – 23: Visit with Santa and enjoy free hot chocolate and cookies every evening on Town Square at Santa on the Square.

December 24: Santa drops from the tram at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort – a unique Wyoming tradition not to be missed on your holiday trip to Jackson Hole.

December 25: Christmas Day. Locals love to ski on Christmas Day, especially when you can ski with Santa! Then enjoy time with family at your rental property or in town at one of the restaurants listed below.

December 31: There’s no shortage of parties to ring in the New Year in Jackson Hole. Both ski resorts, Snow King Mountain Resort and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, display torchlight parades and fireworks, then bars in Teton Village and downtown Jackson host New Year’s parties with live music and midnight toasts. The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar NYE party is the most famous locally, so get tickets early!

    Holiday Shopping

Jackson Hole and Teton Village offer an entirely unique shopping experience with gifts you won’t find anywhere else in the world. Find custom hats from Sing Hat Company, stunning jewelry from Native JH, curated books from Valley Book Store, and unique trinkets from MADE. Small, local, one-of-a-kind shops can be found throughout the Valley, but some of our favorite “shopping districts” are Gaslight Alley, Glenwood Ave., the Aspens, and Teton Village.

Shopping small and locally-owned in Jackson Hole supports business owners, employees, and our local economy throughout the year.

    Holiday Dining

Though still a small town, Jackson offers world-renowned dining options inspired by alpine cuisine and seasonal ingredients. In the winter, festive produce fills warm soups and locally-sourced meats make unique entrees. The following, along with many other dining options in town, are locally-owned, community-minded, and sustainably-run with curated winter menus that represent the holiday season in Jackson well.

Coffee: Cowboy Coffee and Snake River Roasters
Breakfast: Cafe Genevieve and The Bunnery
    Lunch: Hatch and Healthy Being
Dinner: Trio and Snake River Grill

    Holiday Activities

Ice skating in Town Square and Teton Village start as soon as the snow and weather allow, creating a winter wonderland in Jackson Hole. Skates are available for rent at each location.

Elk Refuge Sleigh Rides, beginning on December 16, provide exclusive access to the National Elk Refuge and up-close views of Rudolph’s friends.

Gondola and Tram Rides. Take a scenic ride to the top of the Teton Mountain Range with a gondola ride at Snow King Mountain Resort or a tram ride at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Late afternoon excursions offer some of the best views of the lights in town.

    Adventure starts here.
